EVENTS: PHLS Hosts Obi Emelonye

The Port Harcourt Literary Society, arguably Nigeria's foremost association of elite poets, writers, spoken word artistes, musicians and creative minds brings to the Garden City one of Nigeria's finest thespians Obi Emelonye.

The 52 year old former professional footballer and lawyer who was head of production at the UK's first African Caribbean satellite TV channel BEN TV, established his own production company called 'The Nollywood Factory' which has offices in the UK and Nigeria.

Through the Nollywood Factory, he released the first Nollywood film theatrically on UK screens in 2004 titled 'Echoes of War' and has worked with prominent A-list actors such as Mercy Johnson, Hakim Kae Kazim, the under fire Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, the maverick Jim Iyke, Genevieve Nnaji and many more. Having been profiled by CNN as 'the future of Nollywood' in a series of interviews including the iconic 'African Voices' program, the multiple award winning director of Nollywood blockbusters such as Onye Ozi, The Mirror Boy and Last Flight To Abuja will be in Port Harcourt on Friday 26th April as a guest of the Port Harcourt Literary Society at their 'Open Mic Session' where he will be having a conversation with creatives such as Graciano, Bobby Rak, Chinweike David aka the lyrical Pontiff, Oruz Kennedy, Joel Cicero, Fragile and of course yourself.

It's a unique opportunity for aspiring film makers in the budding Port Harcourt film industry to come rub minds with a leading thespian and Nollywood trail blazer. So, do well to make it a date at the PHLS library and Book Centre as it will also serve as an opportunity to meet and interact with other creatives.

All information about the event is in the artworks and even if you're not there for the conversation, be there for the light refreshment (I hear their refreshment make sense die 😋) and the pretty hot damsels and blokes abi? 🙈
