MOVIES: ANNA!
Wednesday, 19th June 2019. The Filmhouse Cinema, Port Harcourt played host to some of the finest gentlemen of the press spanning television, radio, bloggers and social media influencers to a private screening of the 'about to be released' blockbuster action thriller ANNA!
Okay, if I try to tell you all of the experience, I may end up posting spoilers of this GREAT movie which was directed by Luc Besson who also directed Nikita, Joan of Arc & 2014 sci-fi action thriller Lucy. That should give you a great idea of what kinda movie this should pan out to be. This man knows how to direct movies with female lead actors cum heroines... Oh... AND, HE KNOWS HIS ACTION CHOREOGRAPHY MY GOD!!!
I'm sure you know Keanu Reeves & John Wick! Wait! DO YOU KNOW SASHA LUSS?
This was my first screen encounter of this blonde, lithe actress and she convinced me in every single freaking way playing the lead in this captivating movie. Her jiu jitsu and karate are nearly 0.01 error. Her interpretation of the role was absolutely glorious... At some point, she stabbed bottle like a borokiri girl, at some point, she planked some guys like a rumuokoro geh (😂 na joke I de o).
Then the other protagonists were Luke Evans who played the role of a KGB agent (you know him from Robin Hood, Clash Of The Titans, Immortals, Dracula, The Three Musketeers), Cilian Murphy the blue eyed, fine boy, CIA agent (he also played the role of Dr Jonathan Crane/the Scarecrow in Batman-the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, The Edge Of Love) and Helen Mirren (who has also starred in movies such as; The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, Hitchcock, Teaching Mrs Tingle, Red and Red 2).
I score the movie as follows;
Plot: 9
Dialogue: 8
Screenplay: 8
Action choreography: 9
OVERALL: 8.5
Rated: PG 18 (SNV)
Genre: Action Thriller
There wasn't a single soul who stepped out of that cinema screen unimpressed and in this season of movies, I dare say without any bias, this has been the best movie I've seen and I'm comparing with movies as Avengers End Game, Captain Marvel, Shaft 2, Men In Black, John Wick 3,etc.
We had popcorn and drinks, and took pictures with plenty camaraderie thanks to the good folks at Filmhouse Cinema, Port Harcourt. See pictures below and get set to go see the movie when it premieres for public viewing on Friday 21st June!
