ENTERTAINMENT: Music From The South - AJEBOR HUSTLERS GANG, DAN DIZZY & OMAH LAY

As the covid-19 pandemic bites and various measures are being enforced by various governments around the world, various sectors of global economy has been affected as is the case of the entertainment industry. In a time where many people have suffered mental strain and bordering on mental breakdowns due to either infection with the virus or having lost a loved one or plain simply lacking food and daily supplies or living in claustrophobia due to movement restrictions and social distancing measures enforced, we have seen a huge rise in social media engagements...I mean, even the various network service providers are near wilting under the weight of demand for better quality of their services.

We have experienced pretty much everything from Netflix (who have definitely made a killing) and chill to live video training sessions, house parties, twerk competitions, artiste and producers face offs to live mini concerts. It has been fun in lockdown or quarantine or isolation (depending on which part of the divide you are in).

While the rest of the world has been ambling on with whatever they find purchase in however, some of the finest cats from out of the biggest city in Southern Nigeria have been cooking, teasing and threatening to thrill endlessly...

There was the small matter of the upstart Gthree Mayami who had put a 17 year old in 'the family way' and as reported, attempts at terminating 'it' had gone awry;putting the young girl's life at risk, causing emotional tormoil for all concerned and near jeopardizing his budding music career and his prospects with his record label No Limits Records headed by the untiring Mr Kingsley Anu. Intrestingly, that matter seemed to have gone with the wind...then out of the blues boooooom!

We have another enterprising young fella who started out as a producer (or better still, I came across his work first as a producer)... Omah Lay!

In his own words, "...singing was like a clap back. I wanted to prove to people that I could do it..." For a lad who started making music as a form of revenge to being underrated and unrecognized, I think 'they' hear your clapback loud and clear son.
Right from his first official single titled 'You', you could tell he had got it right...like I would always say, producers understand the music more than singers. This dude has got us switching between Burna Boy and Wizkid with his vibes and most recently announced that his debut EP has hit 1,000,000 streams! Like we will say in PH, 'abobi no be chais'...

Like a proud father walking out of maternity bearing his twin boys, he declared with a short video on twitter a few days ago...more money to the bank son.

Straight from twittersville and into the wild and wacky world of Instagram where the prodigious Dan Dizzy holds sway with his 'nightly' Instagram live freestyle sessions. Thrilling 'em girls and mesmerizing the guys with his sleek flows laced with shades and out-in-your-face insults 😅
The boy de worry every o.

An artiste who's growth I have followed since 2013 where he battled everybody to a standstill at the then monthly port harcourt industry night put together by Chijioke Emenu. Still currently the only man on planet earth who has out-frestyled Vector The Viper to date and heralded the king of battle rap. Dan Dizzy has undoubtedly left his mark on the Port Harcourt entertainment scene, got signed unto a record label hence his foray into Lagos where even after the contract with the label expired, he has continued to grace stages and leave crowds speechless with his ease of flow...enforcing the Port Harcourt movement on them with his rap anthem Who Goes Der?.

It is one of those many awe inspiring Instagram live sessions that the Nyor Nyor Nyor crooner let his almost 100 thousand fans and followers know that he's got some more mind blowing new music coming through soon. When? We don't know yet. Where? We don't know yet. What we know however, is that it's good good music wey sweet die...and a lil' birdie told me it's titled 'Woski' another pitakwa slang. Take a peep in the video we were able to grab off his thriller account and smell the music coming at you soon from this beast.

Finally, these boys wey no well...their problem pass Corona Virus...i no know who their supplier be but i ,must say him de give them good thing!!! The stubborn Knowledge and the cool cat Piego!

Met them personally in 2013 when they brought me their single Buruku ft K Switch after vibing to their music long time even while I was still in Lagos. They were a vibe at the last event I produced in Port Harcourt 'The 69 Show' and true to form, tore down the building premiering 2 new singles live on set.
Well, them don come again ooooo.
The swash buckling duo posted anticipatory artwork on their twitter priming us for the impending release of a new single they recorded sometime ago (me thinks much earlier this year). It's set to be released on the 8th of May and promises to be a banger as usual. I dare say, they haven't put out any bad piece of music ever have they?

Based on who I be, according to Knowledge, I don hear the jam...na gbedu. I've got a snippet they put out and withdrew then put out then withdrew from off and on twitter. Savor it and be prepared to jam it endlessly until them get sore throat inside your phone. Barawo is coming!!!
